Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Lima, Peru

On arrival at Lima International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your luxurious hotel in Miraflores.

At 18:00, join your Travelling Concierge for a Welcome Dinner and an opportunity to meet with your fellow travellers over wine, dinner and seaside views at CALA.

Day 2 - Lima City of the Kings

Experience Lima through the eyes of a Local Expert as you are introduced to the ‘City of Kings’. Explore the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Lima, view the cathedral, and visit the Monastery of San Francisco.

Your Highlight Lunch is at Amoramar, in the bohemian district of Barranco, a favourite known only to the locals.

Next, visit the workshop of Víctor Delfín, one of Peru’s leading artists. Over a hot chocolate or authentic café pasado, learn about Peruvian coffee with a barista.

Enjoy a Highlight Dinner with wine on the terrace of Huaca Pucllana, overlooking the illuminated ruins of a 1500-year-old, pre-Inca pyramid.

Day 3 - On to the Sacred Valley

Board your flight to Cusco before continuing to Peru’s Sacred Valley. Visit the colourful market in the town of Chinchero.

Next, you will meet Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez, a Quechua scholar, president of the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco and a recipient of a TreadRight Foundation grant. Have lunch with Nilda and learn about her mission to preserve traditional weaving techniques.

Later, check in to your luxurious resort.

Day 4 - Exploring the Sacred Valley

Enjoy a leisurely start before heading to the town of Maras to meet with a local family and learn about the traditional arts and crafts of the region. View the spectacular terraced salt pans, dating back to Inca times. These have been passed down through families for generations and today are maintained in much the same way as they were long ago.

Next, experience a typical Peruvian meal, a caja china lunch of fresh vegetables and slow-roasted meats, all cooked in a wooden box.

After lunch, witness a private Pachamama Ceremony, or ‘Payment to the Earth’, as a local shaman performs the centuries-old ritual.

Day 5 - Journey to Machu Picchu

Visit the town of Ollantaytambo, a national archaeological site. Travel by Vistadome train for your scenic journey to Machu Picchu, before enjoying an included lunch at your resort.

A Local Expert will then show you the nature trails of this fascinating cloud forest ecosystem. Discover a working tea plantation and the world’s largest private collection of indigenous orchids.

In the evening, learn how to blend the perfect pisco sour before enjoying dinner with wine at the hotel.

Day 6 - Mysterious Machu Picchu

The entire day is for you to discover the incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu.

Meet your Local Expert for a walk through the enigmatic ‘Lost City of the Incas’. Witness the great Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza and the Intihuatana, believed to be an ancient sun clock.

Day 7 - Return to Cusco

Return by train to Sacred Valley for a Pachamanca Feast Highlight Lunch, a traditional Peruvian meal cooked underground. Next, get up-close to llamas, guanacos, alpacas and even the rare vicuñas.

Later, arrive at your hotel, steps away from the Plaza de Armas.

Day 8 - Colonial Cusco

Join your Local Expert to explore Cusco, visiting the Temple of the Sun at Korikancha, the cathedral and the citadel of Sacsayhuaman. Set out for San Blas, Cusco’s artisan centre, to visit a candle shop and learn about its importance to the locals.

Enjoy some free time for shopping on the Plaza de Armas.

Later, a candlelit Highlight Dinner with wine is served at the reputed MAP restaurant.

Day 9 - Lake Region of Peru

Board your included flight to Juliaca and then continue to Puno, nestled along the majestic shores of Lake Titicaca.

Day 10 - Islands of Lake Titicaca

Cruise Lake Titicaca to the floating islands of Uros, where locals bundle reeds from the lake to build floating platforms, houses and canoes. Enjoy lunch hosted by the local community of Amantaní Island.

Afterwards, there will be time to explore local handicrafts before returning to Puno, where you can relax until dinner with wine.

Day 11 - Puno, Back to Lima

Head to Sillustani on the shores of Lake Umayo to explore the impressive burial grounds, before your flight to Lima.

In the evening, you are treated to a sensational Farewell Celebration Dinner with wine at world-renowned Astrid y Gastón, located in a magnificent San Isidro hacienda with over 300 years of history

FAQ’s

What meals are included?

Breakfast is included on all overnight tours.  Lunches are not included, unless otherwise stated.  Evening meals are included when stated on the tour itinerary.  On tours of seven days or more, generally fifty percent of dinners are included.  Please check the itinerary page for exact details.

Where does the trip depart from?

Each UK trip will have a dedicated pick up point in central London.  Shorter duration trips will normally depart from Victoria Coach Station, with longer duration trips leaving from the London Reception Centre, near to Waterloo train station.  Departure points will be confirmed before booking a tour.

Can I get picked up from my hotel?

Pick up from hotels is not possible.  You will need to make your own way to the departure point.  However some tours do have a designated hotel departure, which you can stay in prior to the trip.  Please ask at time of booking for departure points and we can direct you to local hotels.

Are entrance fees included?

Entrance fees are included where specified on the itinerary.

Can I pay in dollars?

All tours are quoted and charged in pounds sterling, but you can pay using your local card and currency.  We will debit the card in pounds sterling and your bank will use their exchange rate at that time to deduct the amount in your local currency.

What time does the trip leave and return?

Departure times will vary depending on the itinerary.  European tours departing from London will usually leave between 05.00am and 07.00am.  Multi day UK tours will leave between 06.00am and 07:30am.  Day trips will depart between 07.00am and 09.00am.  European and worldwide tours that start in an overseas city will have a welcome reception on day one of the tour which is usually around 18.00pm.

Return times vary depending on the itinerary.  All the full day coach tours should be finished by no later than 19.00pm, traffic permitting.  The train tours return between 20.00pm and 22.00pm.  Longer duration trips will return between 16.00pm and 19.00pm.  All times will be confirmed at time of booking.

Is this a definite/guaranteed departure?

A definite departure is guaranteed to operate for that given departure date.  A trip that is not yet designated a definite departure is not yet guaranteed to operate based on current booking numbers.  If a trip and departure date you are interested in is not yet definite, do not let this discourage you from booking.  The more paid passengers received, the odds of the trip operating increase.  In the slim case that the operator withdraw a trip you are booked on due to a lack of numbers, you are entitled to a full refund of any funds already paid towards the tour, or if flexible with your time, we can move you onto another departure.

Who travels on these tours, who else is booked?

Whilst we can not confirm exactly who else is booked on a tour, we can guarantee you will be travelling with fellow liked minded travelers who share a passion for travel, fun, adventure and discovery.  All tours will be run by English speaking guides and age ranges will vary.  The beauty of taking a guided holiday is you’ll have the opportunity to meet and travel with people from all over the globe.

Are transfers included from the airport?

In general, if you are joining or departing your guided holiday on the first or last day, return transfers between the airport and hotel are included (excludes itineraries starting and/or ending in London).  You’ll find specific information on the itinerary’s page.

What optional excursions can I do and can I book them now?

Optional experiences are available on some tours.  These are activities that are not automatically included, but offered during your trip to enhance your travel experience.  These are all bookable whilst on the tour via your tour guide/travel director.  These are payable by cash or card.
