Day 1 London - Stratford - York - Darlington
Greetings as we make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon. We visit the town where Shakespeare was born before reaching Viking York. On our arrival, orientation includes the gothic Minster, its ancient walls and a stroll through the 'Shambles'. Then time at leisure before we head to Darlington. D

Day 2 Darlington - Durham - Edinburgh (Queensferry) (2)
A short drive to Durham which is dominated by its Cathedral and castle. Then on to Hadrian's Wall to see the ruins. On through the Northumberland National Park to the Scottish border. We have a picture stop at ruined Jedburgh Abbey en route to Scotland's elegant capital, Edinburgh. B

Day 3 Edinburgh at leisure
Morning sightseeing shows us Princes Street, the Royal Mile and views the castle. Then free time to perhaps visit Holyrood House. Or why not shop for tartans and of course famous Scotch whisky? B

Day 4 Edinburgh (Queensferry) - Aviemore
We drive over the Forth Bridge to St. Andrews, famous for its Golf Course. Then into the scenic Scottish Highlands we pass Perth and Pitlochry en route to Aviemore. B D

Day 5 Aviemore - Glasgow
Today we drive along the shores of Loch Ness to Fort William, glimpsing Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. We continue through infamous Glencoe to Loch Lomond on our way to Glasgow. B

Day 6 Glasgow - Grasmere - Preston
Orientation of Glasgow features the Cathedral and George Square. Then, we drive through the Southern Uplands to Moffat. Next, back into England, we enjoy a scenic drive to the Lake District, stopping in Grasmere - home of the poet Wordsworth, before reaching Preston. B D

Day 7 Preston - Chester - Bath
Our first stop is in historic Chester. Here we explore the 'Rows' and admire the Cathedral. Next off to Stoke-on-Trent to visit the Wedgwood Pottery Centre. Then on to Bath. B

Day 8 Bath - London
Before we leave Bath we admire its splendid Georgian architecture. Then free time perhaps to visit the Roman Baths. Next we cross Salisbury Plain stopping to see the mysterious stone circle at Stonehenge. Later, our journey brings us back to London. B
