European Tours
During the 13-15th centuries, the medieval period, the native Cotswold sheep were famous throughout Europe for their heavy fleeces and high quality of wool. Cotswold wool commanded a high price and the wealth generated by the wool trade enabled wealthy traders to leave their mark by building fine houses and wonderful churches, known as “wool churches”. Even today, the sight of sheep on the hillside is still one of the classic Cotswold images.

» England's Palaces: Hampton Court Palace, Lunch In The Cotswolds
& Blenheim Palace Gardens - Full Day Coach Tour

Highlights: Hampton Court Palace * Tour of the Cotswolds and a typical English lunch * Blenheim Palace Gardens

The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful areas in England, known and loved by people across the world. It is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an area of warmth and clarity whose stone walls and buildings, thatch cottages, open skies, rolling grasslands, beech woods and captivating villages make it an outstanding English landscape - a landscape once experienced, never forgotten.

HAMPTON COURT
Hampton Court is perhaps the most spectacular royal palace in England. Built by Cardinal Wolsey in the early 1500s, it later became King Henry VIII's principal residence and remained the centre of royal and political life in England until 1737. You will see King Henry VIII's Great Hall, King William III's State Apartments and the unmissable Tudor Kitchens, which remain largely unchanged since the 16th century and no doubt used to cater for raucous banquets. The palace is probably most famous for its grounds and the famous maze, which has entertained children since it was planted in 1705.

There are famous cities such as Bath, well-known beautiful towns like Cheltenham and hundreds of delightful villages such as Burford and Castle Combe. Above all, the local honey-coloured limestone, used for everything from the stone floors in the houses to the tiles on the roof, has ensured that the area has a magical uniformity of architecture.

Blenheim Palace, home to 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, offers a memorable day out.

THE COTSWOLDS WITH LUNCH
Steeped in history and heritage the area of England known as the Cotswolds are a charming blend of cottages with honey-coloured walls and thatched roofs, market towns with crooked half-timbered houses lining the High Street, and ancient stone crosses, all set in the gently rolling hills ('wolds') that are so typically English in character. Here we will enjoy a typical English lunch in one of the pretty villages.

BLENHEIM PALACE GARDENS
The magnificent park and gardens of Blenheim Palace are set in over 754 hectares of land, with 7 themed gardens including the water garden reminiscent of the grand chateaux of France and Italy, the Secret Garden with its unusual trees and shrubs, the Italian Garden with its mermaid fountain and the very English Rose Garden.
